Bhujangasana, commonly known as Cobra Pose, is a yoga asana that offers many benefits for the body and mind. This pose is often incorporated into yoga routines for its simplicity and effectiveness in promoting flexibility and strength.

What is Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose)?

Bhujangasana is a backbend asana that resembles the raised hood of a cobra, hence its name. It involves lying on your stomach, placing your palms on the ground near your shoulders, and lifting your upper body while keeping your pelvis on the ground.

How to do Bhujangasana:-

Starting position: Start by lying on your stomach with your legs extended and the tops of your feet resting on the mat.

Hand position: Place your palms on the mat next to your shoulders, making sure your fingers are extended.

Elbow position: Keep your elbows close to your body, pointing backward.

Inhale and lift: Using the strength of your back muscles, gently lift your chest off the mat as you inhale. Keep your gaze forward and your neck in a neutral position.

Engage the core: Activate your core muscles to support your lower back, and avoid putting excessive pressure on it.

Shoulder position: To open the chest, roll your shoulders back and down, away from your ears.

Pause and breathe: Hold the pose for a few breaths while taking deep breaths. Feel the stretch in the front of your body.

Inhale and exhale: Exhale slowly as you lower your chest back to the mat.

Benefits of Bhujangasana:-

Strengthens back muscles: Bhujangasana targets the back muscles, promoting strength and flexibility.

Improves posture: Regular exercise helps align the spine, contributing to better posture.
